NSTnation Xavier: Plan to form 'unity' govt afoot long before PH collapse
PKR vice-president Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar said that looking back at what transpired in the past week, it becomes clear that the plan had been bubbling for quite a while.
He said as tensions increased during the Feb 21 meeting, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim calmed everyone down and told Dr Mahathir to decide for himself when the appropriate date would be. “This was going on for the whole day, with the events at the Sheraton PJ and various party meetings elsewhere, and there was no attempt by Dr Mahathir to put a stop to this,” he said.
“Everyone was then spotted at Sheraton Hotel, including Syed Saddiq - despite his much later attempts to call for unity among the broken band of parties” Dr Xavier said. On top of that, he said Dr Mahathir also refused to attend the recent PH council meeting and was adamant about his unity government proposal.
