Published: Jan. 27, 2026, 9:30 a.m.The professional wrestling world has been flooding Mick Foley with prayer after he announced Monday that his mother has died. “It is with a heavy heart I report the passing of my mother, following a lengthy battle with dementia,” he wrote on X.

“She was a strong, fiercely independent woman who beat polio as a child, became the first member of her family to attend college, and instilled in me a belief that I was capable of doing anything. She made me feel no dream was too big to dream, and nurtured my imagination and my love for reading, writing and storytelling. “Simply put, without Mrs. Foley and the gift she gave me, no one would know Mr. Foley’s baby boy,” he added. “I love you mom.”where he had a much lengthier post about his mother. “Just two weeks before her passing, my children and I all had the chance to say our final goodbyes,” he wrote. “We took turns holding her hand, telling her how much we loved her, and what a special part of our lives she was. She only spoke a few words that day, but her eyes were open, she was alert, and I’d like to believe she heard every loving word we spoke that day. I returned to visit her just two weeks later, and the light was gone. There was no sign of recognition. I held her hand, told her I loved her and that it was OK to let go. A few days later she was gone. “I hope and pray one day this terrible disease will be vanquished, and one day, no one will have to go through the same experience my family did,” Foley continued. “Until that day, I encourage all of you to appreciate the little things, tell your loved ones they are loved, and never take a single precious moment for granted. I owe a debt of gratitude to my brother John and his son Jake for their constant presence in her life during such a difficult time.Fans and fellow wrestlers flooded that post with love.“I’m sorry buddy,” Dennis Knight replied on Instagram. “Love to your family and prayers for mama.” “So sorry Mick,” another replied on Instagram. “She sounds like a beautiful and wonderful woman. Sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family.” Foley responded to his followers on Instagram later, “Thank you to everyone for your kind words and condolences … the support means a lot.”The heartbreaking news comes just more than a month after Foley made headlines by announcing that he was cutting ties with the WWE due to its support for Donald Trump. “While I have been concerned about WWE’s close relationship with Donald Trump for several months — especially in light of his administration’s ongoing cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants — reading the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death is the final straw for me,"“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy,” he continued. “Last night, I informed @WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office. Additionally, I will not be signing a new Legends deal when my current one expires in June. “I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities the afforded me. But in the words of Popeye the sailor, ‘I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more.’” Foley, is one of the WWE’s most beloved figures from the “Attitude Era.” He wrestled as himself as well as his characters Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love, and turned in some of wrestling’s most memorable hardcore matches.Brian Linder is the trending editor and the retail, restaurant and real estate editor at PennLive.com.
