Wuhan ups coronavirus death toll by 50%

CHINA’S coronavirus ground zero of Wuhan today abruptly raised its death toll by 50% to a total of 3,869, admitting that many cases were “mistakenly reported” or missed entirely. The adjustment, detailed in a social media post by the city government, adds 1,290 deaths to the tally in Wuhan, where Covid-19 first emerged late last year, and which has suffered the vast majority of the country’s deaths from the disease. – AFP, April 17, 2020.
