Voters will have a chance to hear from those vying to fill Alabama’s newly-drawn District 2 congressional seat when WSFA 12 News broadcasts two forums over the weekend.

Residents of Alabama's 2nd congressional district will have a chance to hear from both the Democrat and Republican candidates Sunday.MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Voters will have a chance to hear from those vying to fill Alabama’s newly-drawn District 2 congressional seat when WSFA 12 News broadcasts two forums over the weekend.

Starting Sunday at 7 p.m. viewers will hear from from of the candidates selected to take part by the Alabama Democratic Party. WSFA 12 News will air forums featuring the Democratic and Republican candidates for Alabama's District 2 seat on Sunday, Feb. 25.At 8:30 p.m. a second forum will feature some of the Republican candidates who will be on the ballot in March. WSFA 12 News will air forums featuring the Democratic and Republican candidates for Alabama's District 2 seat on Sunday, Feb. 25.Alabama’s District 2 was a reliably Republican seat until lawsuits forced the state to redraw its congressional maps to make it possible for a minority candidate to compete and win. Prior to the updated map, Alabama Republicans held six of the state’s seven congressional district seats. The U.S. Supreme Court ordered the state to use a new map, which redrew District 2 from Russell and Barbour counties west to Montgomery, south to Butler and Crenshaw counties, and over to the Mississippi state line through Monroe and parts of Washington and Mobile counties.
