Warmer weather returns to Alabama this weekend with a chance of strong storms Saturday night.

After a cloudy and cool Thursday, things will change a bit today. The wind will shift around to the southeast, helping to pull some warmer air into the state. Most of us will easily reach the mid 60s; it will be noticeably warmer than Thursday. A few scattered showers and/or storms will develop as the day unfolds, primarily in the latter part of the day. One or two storms could produce isolated strong wind and/or some small hail, but we do not expect widespread severe weather issues on Friday.

Saturday we are watching closely. A disturbance is expected to push across the region. Temperatures will surge to near 70 and winds will remain breezy.Watch the latest live and local weather data below, streaming on WSFA Weather Now! Please note, this stream does not include live severe weather coverage, only data on the latest weather conditions. A FIRST ALERT as a few stronger storms will be possible during the afternoon and night Saturday, with the primary threats being damaging wind gusts and large hail. The tornado chance is low but not zero. Rain will continue into Saturday night and through Sunday morning as the system exits the region. Sunday morning we will see temperatures in the 60s with afternoon highs near 70. We dry out briefly Sunday afternoon and through the day Monday ahead of our next system that arrives by New Year’s Eve. That system will bring more rain Monday night into Tuesday. The big story to welcome in January will be the drop in temperatures. With afternoon highs back into the 40s and 50s and overnight lows projected to be in the 20s and 30s
