The family of two Seattle women who were killed at the 2023 Beyond Wonderland EDM festival filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Live Nation.
Cars leave the campground near the Gorge Amphitheater, where a shooting killed two people at the Beyond Wonderland EDM festival on June 17, 2023. The family of two Seattle women who were killed at the 2023 Beyond Wonderland EDM festival filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Live Nation and the security companies who worked the event.
The plaintiffs were represented by Brian Panish, Spencer Lucas, and Hunter Norton of Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP as well as by co-counsel, Kevin Boyle of Boyle Law, according to officials.Live Nation has the means and the duty to make sure security is the highest priority for their concert patrons. Never should someone’s life be taken so senselessly and tragically at a music event," said the Escamilla and Ruiz families in a joint statement.
The lawsuit was filed in King County on April 11 and alleges the event organizers and security had “inadequate, unreasonable, and egregiously deficient conduct and security,” according to the lawsuit. Among those victims is a 61-year-old woman who was working with Crowd Management Services and was hit by a single bullet that struck her in the side of her face. The last victim was a 20-year-old woman who, according to officials, attended the concert with the shooter and suffered two gunshot wounds to her lower extremities.
