Police do not yet know which vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction.
FAIRFIELD — Three people died in a wrong-way vehicle collision on Highway 80 early Sunday morning, authorities said. The collision occurred around 2 a.m. on the highway’s westbound lanes east of Cordelia Weigh Station, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol Solano Area.
Police received initial reports of a four-vehicle collision, but upon arriving at the scene, they determined that there were two separate two-vehicle collisions. In the first collision, a white Dodge Charger with two adult men collided with a black Land Rover Discovery driven by an adult woman, authorities said. All three people involved in the collision sustained fatal injuries. Witnesses told investigators that the “light colored sedan” had been traveling in the wrong direction, but police have not yet confirmed which vehicle was the wrong-way driver.Motorcyclist killed in Fremont collision with pickup truck In the second collision, a black Tesla Model Y collided with a red Toyota Tacoma, authorities said. Both vehicles were being driven by an adult male. The Toyota driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The Tesla driver was uninjured. Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The westbound lanes of Highway 80 were closed beginning around 2:22 a.m. while investigators worked, authorities said. They reopened before 7 a.m., according to a social media alert from CHP Solano.Asking Eric: I just found out that we were being recorded in their homeWarriors coach Steve Kerr provides update on Steph Curry’s injuryAsking Eric: Hank was my father's best friend but I don't want him in my lifeDecades-old Bay Area rape cases linked through DNA to Texas man
