Judith Viorst’s new book of poems, “Nearing 90,” focuses on the comedy and wisdom of late life.

J is best known as the author of books for children, especially “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” which has sold about four million copies since it was published in 1972.
