Chinese company Shuangliang Group has just produced what it claims to be the world's largest hydrogen-producing alkaline electrolyzer.
Chinese firm Shuangliang Group has announced that it has completed what it claims to be the world’s largest alkaline water electrolyzer. Designed to produce hydrogen, the new electrolyzer can process 5,000 normal cubic meters per hour .
The new electrolyzer was unveiled on October 18 at Shuangliang’s first innovation conference, which was hosted to advance clean energy technologies and establish partnerships with other firms.new one, combine concentrated liquid electrolytes, such as potassium or sodium hydroxide, with a porous inorganic diaphragm and special electrodes. The electrolytes are then passed between electrodes and separated into constituent gases.
This makes the technology ideal for large-scale hydrogen production at a relatively lower cost. According to the developer, the new electrolyzer’s design facilitates large-scale hydrogen production. Once produced, hydrogen can be stored and used when needed. This could include direct use as fuel or in other industrial applications. The entire process is powered by renewable technology, which directly produces no carbon dioxide emissions.
