World’s first carbon-negative fashion brand launches
Knitwear label Sheep Inc. launched in October 2019 with the goal of becoming the world’s first carbon-negative fashion brand.
Sheep Inc. co-founder Edzard van der Wyck said about the inspiration behind the brand: “There has been a lot of talk about carbon-neutrality at the moment as the solution, but our position is that it doesn’t push things far enough. If we want to get out of the situation we’re in, we need to become carbon-negative.”
Each sweater is marked with a unique serial number, which can be scanned with a smartphone to reveal the full details of its manufacturing journey, carbon footprint, and even the name of the sheep that produced the wool.
