The company, Insightful, is leveraging AR to bring large screen functionality to a laptop while ensuring privacy for users.

Thanks to its proprietary operating system and uber-cool design, the Spacetop G1 offers a 100-inch wide display screen operating environment that fits neatly into a small backpack.

In a world where screens are getting bigger and privacy is being lost, Sightful’s Spacetop aims to deliver lot of workspace to users without compromising privacy. The team found the answer was augmented reality but soon realized that bulky versions of AR glasses developed by tech giants have hindered the development of technology.and initiated an early access program for those interested in trying the technology.

The AR glasses have 6W stereo speakers, and the built-in microphone has been optimized for meetings. The Spacetop supports a full 79-key US keyboard and has a trackpad that supports multiple gestures, too. With 16 GB memory, 128 GB of storage, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G connectivity, the Spacetop is built on par with the other laptops one can get today. The difference, however, is the massive amount of screen space one gets by just donning the AR glasses.

Thanks to the proprietary operating software dubbed Space OS, the multi-screen desktop experience is possible within the sleek AR glasses of the Spacetop. Sightful has also equipped the Spacetop G1 with onboard artificial intelligence functionality, which allows the device to leverage web-based AI tools that people are keen to use.

The Spacetop G1 can be reserved starting today for a small fee of US$100. The product will ship in October for US$1,900.Ameya is a science writer based in Hyderabad, India.
