Spain FA president Luis Rubiales is refusing to stand down from the top job despite allegedly kissing player Jenni Hermoso on the lips without her consent during their World Cup victory last Sunday.
Mr Rubiales used a speech during an emergency General Assembly of the Spanish Football Federation on Friday to defend his behaviour and insisted the kiss with Hermoso was consensual.
The forced kiss drew outrage in Spain and prompted growing calls for Mr Rubiales to resign. Picture: Twitter Mr Rubiales described the controversial kiss as a"little peck" that was"spontaneous, mutual, euphoric and consensual", which Hermoso has publicly refuted. If it can be proven the kiss was non-consensual, Mr Rubiales could be tried under a new sexual violence law introduced in the European nation last year.
