A petrified Bunnings worker faced an axe threat and fought to remain calm over the weekend, in the latest act of violence plaguing Victoria's shopping centres.

It is understood that the group of men stole several power tools and one staff member was threatened with an axe about 3:20 at the Cheltenham Road store.

A spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed that no one sustained any injuries during the intrusion. “We thank our team for the calm and professional way they handled the situation, and we have now referred this matter to police.”
