Bankruptcy of construction firm leaves residents along lengthy segment of White Oak Bayou...
Debris from the construction along White Oak Bayou piles up in the Antoine Forest Estates community on Nov. 23, 2022 in Houston. Residents are expressing frustration over their neighborhood becoming a dumping ground as Harris County Flood Control District restarts construction.Right outside Ron Delaney’s fence, White Oak Bayou buzzes with activity as walkers and cyclists wind their way around Inwood.
Work along White Oak stopped in May, when the construction company Harris County Flood Control District chose for the job, Navasota-based Burnside Services, crumbled financially. Not long after, workers came to repossess the construction equipment. The company filed for bankruptcy in late May, not even a year into the work along the bayou from Cole Creek to Hollister. Up to 540 creditors, ranging from employees to vendors to clients who paid for unfinished work are listed.
“That is our frustration, that months later nothing is happening,” said Delaney, president of the Antoine Forest Estates Homeowners Association.
