A nurse has received a Regional NHS Champion Award after improving patient safety and finding a saving of £1m.
Claire Hughes, the lead nurse for Tissue Viability at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, arranged for a new contract to supply hybrid mattresses for hospital patients.According to the hospitals trust, the new contract will save £1m over the next four years. it said the mattresses worked by providing a higher quality pressure-relieving surface that reduced the risk of patients developing pressure ulcers.
