Wildlife rescuers who arrived to collect a koala from a Woronora Heights home quickly realised it was a marsupial they had released twice before, leading to fears the animals were struggling to find appropriate shelter amid increasing development.

abc.net.au/news/koala-in-kitchen-woronora-heights-south-sydney-wildlife-rescue-/102713166A koala has been collected by wildlife rescuers for the third time after he wandered into a home in southern Sydney and made himself comfortable in the kitchen.

"Our two dogs were barking, which isn't unusual. Then I realised they had bailed the poor thing [koala] up," she said.Unsure what to do with the marsupial, which was clearly distressed, Ms Tetley called her son, Shannon, who was visiting a friend near Braidwood. "The last time he was picked up he was dropped off at the Royal National Park, which is a fair way from my house," Mr Tetley said."It's unbelievable the distance he must have travelled. The roads that he had to cross are some pretty big highways."

"You'd have to think Wonnie is a bit of an adrenaline junkie to get across the F6 highway and end up in Woronora Heights," she said.Vickii Lett has been working to rehome misplaced Australian wildlife for over 30 years.
