A Crystal Lake woman has been charged for moving an ATV that had been driven in a February fatal accident, the Lake County sheriff’s office said Thursday. Police said that Samantha Jacobson, 45, was charged this week with obstruction of justice. Jacobson, police said, hid an ATV that had been driven by her friend, Glenn Luthardt, 56, who was thrown from the vehicle and died on Feb. 7. Around 1 a.m.
However, he left the bar on the ATV, and was thrown from it after accelerating at a high rate of speed and losing control, authorities said. He was thrown from the ATV, which landed on top of him, police said. Jacobson, police said, left the bar shortly after Luthardt and witnessed the crash. She then arranged for the ATV to be removed, knowing that Luthardt, whose license was revoked, was probably under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
