The 25-year-old woman forcefully shoved her grandmother, killing her, because the elderly woman would not let her eat a hamburger, police said.
A Lancaster County woman who killed her 82-year-old grandmother in 2023 over a hamburger was sentenced Thursday after submitting a guilty but mentally ill plea in late November, according to the county district attorney’s office.
Sigman said she became physical with her grandmother because she would not let Sigman have a hamburger for lunch, according to the DA’s office. Sigman also said she used her “full force” during the shove and considers herself to be “a strong person.” While in court, Sigman said she hopes to use her sentence to “try to focus on herself” and get her life back on track. The judge warned Sigman if she harms anyone during treatment, she could find herself back in prison.
