that misled donors into contributing more than $402,000 to a fabricated cause was sentenced Friday, bringing an end to the case that began to unfold over five years ago, officials said.

McClure was not present in the Mount Holly courtroom because she is a serving a 12-months and one-day term in a federal prison in Connecticut after also being charged by the US Attorney’s Office for her involvement in the scam, the office said. The bogus GoFundMe campaign was created on November 10, 2017, soon after McClure’s boyfriend at the time, Mark D’Amico, of Florence, took a picture of McClure and Johnny Bobbitt, a homeless veteran who was living on the streets of Kensington in Philadelphia, standing in front of the Girard Avenue exit ramp on Interstate 95 in the city, investigators said.
