Woman walks away from San Diego community reentry program for inmates [Breaking]

Authorities were searching for a woman who walked away from a community reentry program for inmates in San Diego on Saturday night, state corrections officials said.

Officials learned Cynthia Baker, 31, had left the facility without permission about 9:45 p.m. when her GPS monitoring device alerted them to the escape, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.Advertisement Baker was convicted of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and sentenced in October to three years in prison.

Baker is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and about 145 pounds, officials said. She has brown hair, hazel eyes and a light complexion. The Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program allows inmates to serve their sentence in a reentry center, where they are offered rehabilitation services to help them transition back into the community.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission were apprehended, officials said.
