An 82-year-old woman is threatening to sue her local YMCA after it banned her from its facilities for expressing concerns over seeing a “man in woman’s swimsuit” in the women’s locker room, her lawyer told The National Desk Wednesday.
An employee who overheard the encounter allegedly then “berated” Jaman and asked her to leave, threatening to call police. Jaman says she later filed a complaint with the Port Townsend police department and YMCA CEO Wendy Bart, both of whom allegedly stood by the ban. “Since that moment, I have suffered mob-like attacks, public humiliation, and widespread mendacious reporting,” Jaman wrote in a letter obtained by TND. “If this had been the 17th Century, I would have been burned at the stake. I have been active in this community for 40 years, and my hope is that my credibility is restored.”The Center for American Liberty is now representing Jaman in demanding the city of Port Townsend and the YMCA lift the ban, issue an apology and award her $350,000.
