A woman in Zambia has sued her boyfriend for eight years for not marrying her and for “wasting her time,” Kenyan news outlet Tuko reports.
According to Tuko, 26-year-old Gertrude Ngoma told a Zambian court that she was already tired of waiting to get married to her boyfriend, Herbert Salaliki, 28. Ngoma also told the court that she is doubting Salaliki’s loyalty, claiming she discovered her partner having sexual relations with another woman.
Ngoma and Salaliki already have a child together, but Ngoma lives with her parents while Salaliki lives on his own.However, Ngoma said Salaliki had already made the dowry payment to her parents—a norm in Zambia—although her partner has yet to ask her to marry him. The judge who presided over the case ruled that the couple should settle their differences out of court.
