'Hardly luxurious!'
A woman who paid out £140 per person to get into Lytham Festival's VIP Garden Experience is now advising people not to pay out for the entry after her mum, who suffers from arthritis, was forced to sit on the floor.
Jess explained that the family "really needed something to look forward to" after losing their Dad in 2021 at the age of 60. "Obviously that is no fault of Lytham Festival and we don’t want this to be a sob story," she explained. "It just meant that we were even more excited for a night to celebrate with my mum – and like everyone else, an opportunity to let our hair down after a really tough couple of years.
Jess added: "The reality is when we arrived, at least 45 minutes before the first act performed, there were no deck chairs or benches left, leaving a lot of people with mobility issues left to stand for the remaining 6 hours… The alternative? Sit on the bumpy, wet, muddy floor… hardly luxurious!" "So I think we were just an inconvenience," she added. "We spent most of the support acts' performances arguing with security but managed to enjoy Diana's performance with some lovely people we met, no thanks to the staff - about 75% were rude, unhelpful and very unsympathetic - or the shoddy organisation. I am requesting money back because we did not receive what we paid so much for.
"When Lytham Proms first started in 2009, us locals were some of the first people to get involved with it. Since its beginnings, we have supported it and are delighted about the attention it brings to our wonderful town. Unfortunately, now it has evolved into a huge tourist event that attracts superstar performers; the organisers seem to have forgotten about the local people who made it what it is and just care about the money.
