Ma Kaing, 47, was a tireless advocate for her community, known to “go out of her way to be a resource for refugees from her home country of Burma as they worked to become part of the fabric of the U.S., just as she and her husband had done.”
, with her husband and four children, for more than 15 years, according to Hope Communities, a nonprofit that operates affordable housing in Denver, including Hidden Brook.
Kaing was a tireless advocate for her community, known to “go out of her way to be a resource for refugees from her home country of Burma as they worked to become part of the fabric of the U.S., just as she and her husband had done,”Kaing “was shot and killed by random gunfire from an automatic weapon across the street from her home,”. “She was senselessly shot while participating in a very normal activity — unloading groceries with her children.
“We cannot erase the pain this terrible tragedy has caused, but we can help to alleviate some distress by raising funds to pay for a memorial and immediate living expenses for the family,” said the GFM page, organized by Sharon Knight. “Please help as you can.”
