A Seattle woman has been sentenced to prison for killing a rideshare driver in 2023 and driving his car around the city for several days, including to a hair appointment. Neiana Allen-Bailey, 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of 52-year-old Amare Geda, who was working as a rideshare driver at the time.

King County Superior Court Judge Haydee Vargas sentenced Allen-Bailey to 20 years in prison. The sentence was lower than prosecutors requested but higher than what the defense had sought. During a sentencing hearing on Friday, Geda’s family members spoke about the impact of his death. The doctor said Allen-Bailey reported abusing alcohol and drugs, including Xanax, Percocet, mushrooms, and tequila, before killing Geda. Geda was a well-known rideshare driver in the Seattle area who worked with a drivers' union and served as a mentor to others. He was also a leader in his church.“He was the type of individual who cared about you and showed love.
