Armstrong Williams takes on the news of the week and asks the questions you want answered. Don’t miss our weekly town hallA 26-year-old woman, identified only as Alexis , has successfully obtained a permanent protection order against a maintenance worker she claims has been stalking her.
Alexis, who requested her last name not be used, said the man left unwanted messages on her car, including a note that read, "This was love at first sight, speak less, observe more."Days later, she said she caught the same man on security cameras inside her apartment without permission. "Walking around my bedroom, cutting off my power, so the security cameras would not report what he was doing," Alexis said. However, he later showed up at her door unannounced. "I heard my door unlocking while I was there and I saw him through the front door," Alexis said. "I stopped him from entering."Following these incidents, Alexis moved to a new apartment with on-site security and a roommate. However, she was shocked to learn the same maintenance worker had gotten a job there just weeks after she moved into her new place. "I was leaving for work one day, and I saw him again at my apartment," Alexis said. "Kind of in shock, complete shock." Alexis has since altered her routine to avoid the worker. She reached out to police and prosecutors for assistance on what to do, but got very little advice."Very frustrating, honestly it halted my entire life honestly," said Alexis, who was able to obtain a temporary protection last week on her own Alexis' attorney, Geoffrey Spall, advises others facing similar situations to "gather and preserve evidence, phone texts, and video," and then contact law enforcement and an attorney. ABC 6 was in a Franklin County Common Pleas Courtroom Monday morning when the order was made permanent. The maintenance worker, who has not been charged with any crime, agreed to sign a permanent protection order, promising to stay clear of Alexis, but did not admit any wrongdoing "It is bringing me some peace of mind to know that I am protected for five years," Alexis said. "Follow your gut, and do what you have to do, not many people out there will."
