Latasha Chase says when she went into a Walmart in Newberry Township she paid with cash, but when the cashier handed her change, it was a fake bill . She didn't realize it was counterfeit until she went to pay for something at a different store.
“I could’ve been interrogated by the FBI and they would’ve never believed me. I could’ve lost my whole job, my whole livelihood," said Chase.“When he went and got another manager. He said let me run the cameras back. When the girl behind the counter said did it come from our store. He said yes,“ explained Chase.
After shopping in Walmart Chase went to a vape shop just a short walk from Walmart. That’s when she found out the cash in hand was just prop money. "The man said I can't take this. It’s fake money. Where it says, 'The United State of America,' it said for 'Motion Picture Only,' and it also said that on the back. I was very grateful he didn’t call the cops on me," said Chase.
In the future she’ll double check the change she receives no matter how much the bill is. She wants others to do the same.Chase says she is considering going to police about this incident because she doesn’t want it to happen to anyone else. Walmart says they will further investigate what happened.
