After a trip to the GP, the beautician was initially given some painkillers and told she'd be fine
A young woman was given the devastating news she has an incurable disease after thinking her contact lens was stuck in her eye.
But multiple tests and scans later revealed she actually had multiple sclerosis, or MS, an incurable and lifelong condition which affects the brain and nerves. Symptoms range from trouble seeing, to sensitivity to heat and fatigue. Rebecca-Louise was allowed to go home after being given a course of steroids. But shortly after she was discharged, she had to return to hospital again after suffering a relapse.
“I’ve been left with permanent damage and I can’t see out of my right eye and I don’t think I will ever be able to. My arms and legs have improved where I can walk and use them, but I can’t feel my legs in a way a normal person can. It’s a very different sensation, there are sharp shooting pains and pins and needles. A lot of my symptoms are invisible so no one really notices.
