A woman’s “semi-decomposed” body was found stuffed inside of a plastic bin in a wooded area in the Bronx on Friday afternoon, NYPD said.
The grisly discovery was made around 12:15 p.m. near 4438 Edson Avenue in Wakefield in a secluded area used as a shortcut by locals to get to the train and stores, according to police and neighbors.It’s not clear how long the woman had been dead, but one neighborhood resident, James Washington, told The Post he saw the bin on Wednesday while walking down the path with his girlfriend.Police found the body shortly after noon on Friday after receiving a 911 call.
“It’s so crazy because I just walked through that path last night going to the store and I didn’t notice anything,” Koya M. told The Post.Neighbors said the wooded area is commonly used by locals as a shortcut to the train station.Police had not identified the woman’s body by Friday night. The cause of death is to be determined.Locals described the neighborhood as typically quiet, and said something like this is out of character for the area.
“I was just very surprised because in the three years I’ve lived here I’ve never come across dead bodies or anything like that,” Koya M. said.
