Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by motorbike on busy Greater Manchester road
A woman has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a motorbike on a busy Wigan road. Police closed off part of Orrell Road in both directions for more than six hours after being called out to the scene this afternoon .
North West Ambulance Service was called out to the scene at 2.12pm, following a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a woman whose age has not been confirmed, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Greater Manchester Police's serious collision investigation unit is investigating the incident, the Manchester Evening News understands. Officers taped off part of the road between Bankes Avenue and Fleet Street until around 9pm this evening.People were urged to avoid the area while emergency services worked at the scene. The closure affected motorists heading between Pemberton and the Orrell Interchange.
