Two men chased the robber to retrieve the money
An elderly woman was pushed to the ground during a robbery at a cashpoint in Nottingham. The victim was withdrawing cash from outside Lloyds Bank in Lower Parliament Street in the city centre at around 9.45am on Saturday, September 2.
A man grabbed the money before a scuffle took place in which the victim – a woman in her 60s – was pushed to the ground, Nottinghamshire Police said. The force is appealing for three people who helped the woman to get in touch. The victim suffered minor injuries after banging her head on the floor during the incident. Two men – one on foot and one on a pushbike – managed to retrieve the stolen cash after chasing the robber down Clinton Street West, while a woman helped the victim get back on her feet. The suspect managed to flee from the scene, with police launching an investigation to try and track down the man responsible.
“From speaking to her, we know that multiple people saw what happened and three bystanders actually stepped in to help her and even got her stolen money back. We don’t know the names of the people who assisted the victim but it is important that they come forward and speak to us, as they will have important information that could assist our investigation.
“This incident took place in a busy part of the city centre in broad daylight, so we’d ask that anyone else who saw what happened contacts the police too.”
