A woman was arrested in Navotas City for alleged vote-buying, police said Thursday.
Maribel Eugenio Policarpio, 51, of Barangay Tugatog, Malabon, was caught in the act of handing envelopes containing P300 in cash to about 200 residents from Barangay Longos in Malabon inside an old warehouse in Navotas, said BGen. Rizalito Gapas, NPD director.Gapas told The Manila Times that Policarpio has been detained at the Navotas police headquarters as charges are expected to be filed against her before the City Prosecutor's Office.
'These envelopes were offered and given to the constituents from Barangay Longos, Malabon City, who were present for what was described as Watcher's Training,' he added.Saying concerned citizens have tipped off the police about the 'cash-giving,' the NPD chief said those who had lined up told investigators that they were instructed to gather in the area for a 'watchers' training.
