The victim’s vehicle was hit by a CSX freight train.
A woman was killed early Sunday when a train collided with a vehicle at a railroad crossing, Bergenfield Mayor Arvin Amatorio said.
A CSX freight train hit the victim’s vehicle at about 1 a.m. near West Central Avenue in Bergenfield, the mayor said. The name of the woman, identified as a 42-year-old mother of two, was not publicized, pending notification of her next of kin. The Bergenfield Police Department had not released information about the crash, but said on Sunday morning that the Columbia Avenue and West Central Avenue railroad crossings were shut down for an investigation.
