A woman died Thursday night after she was hit by a minivan while walking on an Oakland freeway and the vehicle driver was later arrested.
OAKLAND — A 20-year-old woman died Thursday night after she was struck by a minivan while walking on Interstate 580 in East Oakland and the vehicle driver was later arrested, the California Highway Patrol said.The CHP said the woman was hit about 10:42 p.m. Thursday by a Dodge Caravan that was entering the westbound lanes of the freeway from Edwards Avenue.
Authorities said after hitting the woman the vehicle driver drove to a gas station on Seminary Avenue where the CHP was called.
