A woman walking on Interstate 580 in Castro Valley after getting out of a car was killed Monday morning when she was hit by an SUV.
CASTRO VALLEY — A 28-year-old Turlock woman who was walking on Interstate 580 after getting out of a car was killed Monday morning when she was hit by an SUV, the California Highway Patrol said.The fatal collision happened about 5:10 a.m. Monday on eastbound I-580 at the connector ramp to northbound Highway 238.
Jacowitz said the woman who was killed had been in a white Chevrolet Malibu with some other people when, for some still-unconfirmed reason, she got out of the vehicle and began walking on the freeway. It was not clear where on the freeway the woman got out of the Malibu, the CHP said.
