The Melbourne mum allegedly stabbed to death by her own daughter, who reportedly tried to set her on fire, has been identified as 53-year-old Joanne Perry.

Ms Perry died on Friday evening after she was stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest by her daughter, according to the Herald Sun. Upon police arrival, members were challenged by the woman in her 20s, identified as Ms Perry’s daughter, who was allegedly armed with a knife.Despite being told to drop the weapon, police say the 26-year-old continued to fatally plunge the knife into her own mother's torso and neck.According to the Herald Sun, the younger woman was on bail for an unrelated matter and was the subject of an apprehended violence order.
“ were confronted with the daughter stabbing the mother and have called on the daughter to drop the knife,” he said.
