) - A 26-year-old Louisiana woman is in custody after allegedly crashing into several vehicles while leading Mobile police on a high-speed chase that ended in Mississippi this afternoon.
The pursuit began on Airport Boulevard. The woman, later identified as Kathlyne Johnson of Louisiana, damaged at least two vehicles at U-J Chevrolet, according to the Mobile Police Department. During the pursuit, Johnson’s vehicle struck at least two other vehicle, authorities said. Speeds reportedly reach 100 mph and the truck Johnson was driving lost one of its front tires during the pursuit.
The chase ended just across the state line in Mississippi near Tanner Williams Road and Orso Road, MPD said. Police said Johnson will be booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail later this afternoon on charges of felony eluding, trafficking methamphetamine and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
