Robin Scoggin, touched by the story of Pensacola guitarist Kip Guadett who had two of his guitars stolen, decided to gift him one of her late husband's guitars.
Just a few Christmases ago, Robin Scoggin's house in Saraland would be filled with music on Christmas eve... music that would stream from the strings of guitars played by her husband, Tommy Scroggins. 'I do!,” she says. “I mean, it made him so happy. And we went to hear bands play, you know? And every night he'd pick it up and strum on one and played.'Tommy died from heart problems two-and-a-half years ago.
Since then, Tommy's guitars have sat silent in the corner of Robin's living room, never quite out of sight. 'Oh, yeah,” she says, nodding. “Everyday.' And so Tommy was very much on RobIn's mind last week, as she watched our story about Pensacola guitar player and band member Kip Guadett. After a performance at the popular Seville Quarter, a thief quietly walked away with two of Kip's guitars as he was about to load them into his car. 'It's like I am getting to do this thing I love, with this thing I love,” he told WEAR-TV reporter Hannah James. “This next weekend at Seville Quarter, I won't be doing it with the things I love. People have offered to let me borrow their instruments, or I have some that I may be able to repair at home. But, these were the two.' And as she watched that interview from her home in Mobile, Robyn knew exactly how Kip felt... because she knew how her husband would feel if it happened to him. 'I heard his story on the news, Mr. Gaudette's,” she says, tears welling up in her eyes, “and I just want to...
