A Texas woman faces nine felony charges after allegedly lying about her daughter's medical condition, resulting in years of unnecessary and potentially harmful treatments.
A woman faces nine felony charges after intentionally providing false medical information about her daughter, leading to unnecessary and potentially harmful medical procedures. The child, a teenager, underwent these procedures over a six-year period, including the unnecessary administration of ketamine and pain treatments the victim has become dependent on.
Zamora is also accused of falsifying her own medical history by claiming to have cancer and even shaving her head and telling friends and family she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said there is a potential for an investigation into Medicaid fraud charges for an estimated $500,000 to $1 million in unnecessary treatments. Detectives believe Zamora may have solicited monetary donations for both herself and her child’s medical expenses, and asked any person or organization that may have supplied money to her to contact Detective Michael Weber.
