An elderly woman has died following a house fire at a property in Nottingham. Emergency services received a call at 9.37pm on Friday, June 7, to a house fire on Ashworth Close, Sneinton .
Crews from London Road and Arnold Fire Station attended the incident and quickly extinguished the fire. However, a woman in her 60s was discovered inside the property and was pronounced dead at the scene. A joint investigation between Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police has now concluded and the incident isn't being treated as suspicious. A cordon remained in place following the tragedy into the morning of Saturday, June 8.Multiple police cars were seen arriving at the scene, as well as a fire investigation unit, a crime scene investigation unit, and forensic officers.
"We will be out in the local community in the coming days to offer reassurance to local residents, which will include free smoke alarm fittings. It is imperative that every household in Nottinghamshire has working smoke alarms on every level of their home.
