Silke Maria Crombie, 56, of North Carolina, died at UAB Hospital Sunday, Oct. 15.
A woman who died following an incident at Barber Motorsports Park died from a medical issue not a crash, authorities announced Tuesday.The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office initially said Crombie died following a crash during a side-car race on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Crombie actually suffered a medical event which led to her death, which is contrary to what first responders initially recounts to medical examiners. Crombie, Yates said, “experienced a medical event while driving a motorcycle-sidecar and immediately became unresponsive.”Search underway for 45-year-old Opelika man missing 5 daysCrombie was an American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association competitor racing during the final weekend of the 2023 AHRMA road racing championship at Barber Motorsports Park.
