A woman has urged changes to be made to a poorly lit footpath near woodland over fears for people's safety.
Bethany Moxon, 39, uses Tanners Wood Lane in Abbots Langley during early morning darkness and says the lights are only on the road.: “I filmed my walk and showed one of my friends. She couldn’t believe how dark it was.Ms Moxon, who works for a medical device company, said the lights needed sorting for everyone's safety and highlighted how close the stretch is to a school and care home.
“You hear horror stories about people who walk near the woods, so I would rather walk on the road and be visible to the drivers," she added."I’m not the only person who does this."A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We will check whether it is possible to remove shields from these lights [on Tanners Wood Lane] to increase the amount of light falling on the footway.
“In addition, we will check whether there is any overhanging vegetation that can be cut back to improve the lighting.” HCC said it will also liaise with police to decide if the road meets criteria for additional street lighting.The footpath is next to Tanners Wood, which concerns Ms Moxon because of the poor lighting.
