A 40-year-old woman, Chritina A. Linter, was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated robbery after allegedly trying to rob a gas station clerk in unincorporated Lake Villa, Illinois, on New Year's Day. Deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery and learned that Linter implied she had a firearm and demanded cash. When the clerk refused, she attempted to break into the cash register before fleeing in a black Ford Expedition. Linter was apprehended by Gurnee police officers after her vehicle was identified by a Flock camera. She is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning, and the State's Attorney's Office plans to file a petition to detain her while awaiting trial.
