A San Diego woman faces charges for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the George Bailey Detention Facility. Authorities intercepted suspicious mail containing narcotics addressed to an inmate. The woman, Jacqueline Richardson, was arrested and additional drugs were found at her residence.
A 46-year-old woman from San Diego has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the George Bailey Detention Facility. Authorities say the woman, Jacqueline Richardson, mailed packages containing narcotics to inmate Aaron Beek, 47. The packages were intercepted by Mail Processing Center personnel who discovered suspicious materials believed to be soaked with drugs.
Detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff's Detention Investigations Unit launched an investigation and identified Richardson as the suspect. On January 16th, detectives served a search warrant at Richardson's residence in San Diego. During the search, investigators discovered evidence related to the mail case, along with additional narcotics including powdered fentanyl, M30 fentanyl pills, and methamphetamine. Richardson was arrested and booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee on suspicion of sending a controlled substance into a jail and possession of a controlled substance. The investigation also revealed that Beek was suspected of receiving and attempting to use the illicit substances within the detention facility.Beek remains in custody and has been booked on suspicion of sending a controlled substance into jail. Sending a controlled substance into a jail is a felony offense in California, with a potential sentence of up to six years in custody.
