According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the scene at the Wesley Square Apartments on Calhoun Road near the South Loop just before 2:30 a.m. Investigators said a man and a woman were arguing inside an apartment when the woman allegedly stabbed the man. HPD said three children were inside the apartment when the stabbing happened, though officials did not release their ages.
According to court documents obtained by ABC13, Ariyanna Cooper is charged with murder, accused of stabbing Travis Jerome Powell with a knife. Records described Cooper and Powell as sexual partners. Documents also show that Cooper was previously charged with aggravated assault in 2024, accused of threatening a family member with a knife.
