D’ereka Renee Geter Scott was arrested on charges of felony second-degree assault and failure to appear in court on eight outstanding traffic offenses. Police say they entered Scott's home through an unlocked window after she ignored their attempts to contact her for nearly an hour. Scott posted a video of the arrest on social media, claiming police did not show her a search warrant.
D’ereka Renee Geter Scott, 29, was arrested Tuesday on charges of felony second-degree assault and failure to appear in court on eight outstanding traffic offenses.
Officers knocked and announced their presence dozens of times over the next 50 minutes without response. During that time, according to the press release, they could see Scott and a man - later identified as Timothy Williams - turning off lights and moving inside the residence.
Upon entering the apartment, one officer located a child in the residence and took her to another room for her safety. The victim, who was hospitalized for her injuries, later obtained the warrant officers were attempting to serve Tuesday night.
