A woman is in custody after a gun was fired inside the Montgomery Regional Airport early Saturday morning, airport officials confirmed. Airport police Tuesday identified the suspect as 37-year-old Saundrea Denise Allen. She has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied or unoccupied building and second-degree criminal mischief .

Allen fired a round into a glass window and fled the scene, airport police said. Authorities say as she fled, she caused damage in the parking lot area of the airport. There were no injuries. Montgomery Regional Airport officials released this photo of the TSA Checkpoint area where a gunshot was fired early Saturday morning.“We are grateful for the swift response from our local law enforcement, which ensured the safety of everyone at the airport,” said Wade A. Davis, C.M. MGM Executive Director. “We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all passengers.” Montgomery Airport Police responded to the scene with assistance from the Montgomery Police Department, who obtained a description of the suspect and vehicle. A short time later, Allen was involved in a crash. MPD responded and identified her as the person connected to the airport shooting. Montgomery Airport Police arrived at the scene and took Allen into custody without incident. A firearm was also recovered from the scene of the crash, officials said.“We are thankful that no one was harmed during this dangerous situation. The response and collaboration between agencies ensured that the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
