AKRON, Ohio — A 62-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries early Thursday morning after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street near downtown.
Police are searching for the vehicle, believed to be a silver SUV, which did not stop after it hit the woman just before 1 a.m. on the 200 block of East Market Street. The impact of the collision threw the woman nearly 80 feet, police say. She was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital.
