A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed late Thursday in an empty field in Chula Vista in an area where police said homeless people are known to reside.
The victim was “bleeding heavily” from an apparent gunshot wound, Molina said. She died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by police and medics. Her name was not released, but police said she was believed to homeless and living in Chula Vista.
