With young, unhoused mutants going missing left and right, Laura’s vigilante mission to protect the young mutants of New York City is renewed as she reflects on her life and past trauma.

During an unfriendly run-in with Ms. Marvel in NYX #1, Wolverine tells the still fairly new mutant that she’s not ready for the anti-mutant fight brewing in NYC. That argument drew some ire from Kamala Khan fans, and could be a hint that Laura’s Wolverine is being stubborn and must change her perspective and work alongside the new NYX roster to achieve her goal of protecting young mutants.
